My Life with a Talking Cat

Would you believe I live with a cat that talks back? If you would have told me that I was going to live with a talking cat when I was 7, I wouldn't have believed you but I would have hoped you were right! Meet Flounder, the funniest cat on the internet in my opinion. She tells me when she has big emotions, her thoughts on the Roomba, she gives me movie reviews, and she even lets me know when things are going on in the house that I didn't know about (Like a leak, or a dead marsh rat in the garage.) Want to learn more about my life with a talking cat? Let's dive deeper...

Understanding My Talking Cat

Have you ever thought about talking to a pet? My journey with Flounder, the talking cat, has been amazing. Instead of regular meows, Flounder replies with buttons that have prerecorded words. This creates a funny and surprising chat, something you wouldn’t expect from a cat. It is a special experience, mixing technology with fun interaction.

What makes it even more fun is how Flounder interacts thanks to the app that powers her voice. From silly chatter to funny recordings, each day brings new ways for Flounder to make us laugh and connect. Let’s look closer at how this adventure started.

How It All Started

Flounder isn't your every day tom cat. Before Flounder came into my life, I never thought a pet could talk in a people voice. It all began when I found a video of a dog online talking with the use of buttons. Curious about the idea, I looked further into it. All of a sudden, I had a cat who not only meowed but narrated my every move in English. Soon, Flounder was the star of the home.

At first, Flounder's funny voice surprised me. Hearing a cat communicate with sentences is strange. For example, when I said, “I love you!”, I heard the response "Love you" "More". I started off giggling and soon burst into laughter. Flounder brought joy and excitement into my daily life.

With time, Flounder became more than just a talking pet. She began telling me when she wanted a life change, such as doing her business on the toilet rather than a litter box; something I never would have know without buttons as I always keep the toilet lid down. Each moment with Flounder made our quirky bond grow stronger. But how does she do all this? Let’s discover the science behind this amazing talking cat.

The Science Behind a Talking Cat

The secret behind Flounder’s communication lies in the teaching. Modeling is when you use the word, press the button, and then follow up with an object or action that is associated with that word. For example, if I wanted to teach the word "Outside", I would say "outside", press the "Outside" button, and then take Flounder outside. With consistency she began to establish an association between the word and the meaning, much like how humans learn language

Daily Adventures with a Chatting Feline

Living with Flounder is like having a comedian right in my home. Each day is full of fun talks and funny moments. From saying good morning to unexpected times when Flounder makes me laugh with her clever responses, the fun never ends.

Flounder has enrichment that keeps her entertained every day. She typically begins the day planning out her agenda - always filled with enrichment. Let’s look closely at one of our favorite things—our morning chats.

How does a day with a talking cat typically begin?

Morning routines with Flounder are anything but normal. Right after I grab my breakfast, the fun starts. Flounder happily requests to go outside. Sometimes she will want to do her ballet school outside, sometimes she just wants to smell all of the smells. Her energy makes the morning special as she’s always ready to entertain with her lively actions and funny button presses.

One day, she said, “Christmas tree" "Rest" "Outside,” after she observed a Christmas tree on the curb of the neighbor's driveway shortly after Christmas. She is very observant and enjoys communicating her observations. If she sees an alligator when we are out, she will tell me "water" :stranger" when we come back into the house.

Flounder also narrates my actions throughout the day, which is always humorous to me. If I'm having a glass of wine in the evening: "Mom" "Water". If I'm working (I work from home): "Mom" "Work" "Now". There was a time I had a business call with someone who I was unhappy with, and I was trying so hard to keep my cool. During the call, Flounder pressed, "Mom" "angry" and totally blew my cover! The guy heard her presses and the call got so awkward after that.

Unexpected Moments of Humor with Flounder Cat

Flounder’s sense of humor surprises me often, and these moments make her even more lovable. One day, I sneezed while talking, and Flounder responded: "Please". She doesn't have a sneeze button, and she knows the word "sneeze" because I say it every time I sneeze so she picked the button that sounded the most like "sneeze". It was hilarious and surprisingly accurate.

Sometimes, Flounder's playful side leads to funny situations:

  • Mouse Toy: She has a Mouse Toy that is pretty much a piece of fabric by now and she has began to insist on feeding him once a day (to help him regain health, no doubt). She will check with me before she feeds him to make sure I haven't fed him yet.

  • Bad mom: One day she asked me for a puzzle, and I told her no because I had already given her a puzzle that day to which she responded: "Want" "different" "mom"

  • TV watching: She uses her buttons very accurately to control what is played on the TV and insists on Pocahontas and only Pocahontas at all time.

These quirks and her charming antics keep me entertained all the time. With her unexpected moments and fun humor, Flounder shows that she is talented beyond just chatting.

Conclusion

In conclusion, having a talking cat has made my daily life happier in many ways. From our morning talks to funny moments, these times build a special bond that makes our lives better. It isn’t just about owning a pet; it's about growing a fun relationship. My cat has shown me how important friendship is and how joy can come from small moments. Embrace the surprises in your life, whether it is with a pet or something else you love. Share your stories, and let’s enjoy the unique things that make life great!
